Hardback account of the history of the town of Tarves. Undated but believed to be 1955 and presumed first edition. 64pp., a frontispiece and 2 other black and white illustrations. Tarves is a small town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, situated in the Formartine area between Oldmeldrum and Methlick. It contains the following chapters: Primeval Prelude; The Church and the Parish; Tolquhon Castle and its Lords; The Lands and Lairds of Schivas; Tillyhilt, Tillygonnie and Shethin; Olden Times in the Parish; and Modern Tarves. Lists of those of the Parish who fell in the First and Second World Wars complete the book. The book is bound in the original green boards with gold titling on the front boards The spine and boards are faded with some damage to the bottom left front board. There is some staining to the front and back interior cover board. Page edges are tanned with light tanning of the pages. There is an owner’s note on the title page.
